The fight against the threats to Novel Coronavirus COVID – 19 pandemic suffered profound effects and impacts to every school across the country. Along with the current spread of the COVID – 19 pandemic, physical distancing, face shield and mask wearing to the public and private schools are highly required. Also we all are staying in our homes due to the lockdown policy implemented by the government.
The continuous spreading of the deadly virus affects all of us. Despite of it, Adventist Academy of Negros Oriental – Siquijor Inc. (AANS) remains functional and still existing by the help of God but the enrollment has really affected. The latest data were 465 enrollees in the school year 2019-2020 before the pandemic. Here comes the unexpected crisis, one of the significant stakeholders of the school, the parents, were struggling in paying their tuition because they were jobless and some were given low salaries. Some students transferred to public schools and sad to say others stopped going to school. The enrollment of the school dropped to less than 2.36 percent of the learners. The current school year 2020-2021 enrollees reached 454 learners, from Nursery up to the Senior High School.
Adventist Education should not halt. According to Ellen G. White in the book of Education page 14 states, “True education means more than the pursuit of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of existence possible to man. It is the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and spiritual powers. It prepares the student for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come.”
Adventist Academy of Negros Oriental – Siquijor Inc. (AANS) is in the pursuance of maintaining the safety and well-being of our students as well as to the Faculty and Staff. The School’s Mission has spoken loud and clear that teachers reflecting Christ’s character is the most essential way to educate the learners and live for eternity.
